University of
Arkansas Community Design Center, Fayetteville, Arkansas

As one of the 238 projects selected internationally to
participate in the LEED-Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) Pilot
Program, the 50-unit affordable neighborhood development for Habitat
for Humanity Fayetteville will be used as a case study to discuss the
growing problem of storm water management in the region. Funded
by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Arkansas Natural
Resources Commission, the project design and research focuses on
creating a Low Impact Development (LID) in a highly impaired
watershed, and solves the triple bottom line; social performance,
environmental performance, and financial performance.
